Ps2 runs too slow on most games except turn based games and I hear the issue sometimes is the graphics card trying too hard or overworking unnecessarily. I am trying to lower the settings and i finally found where it is but its zoomed in too much that i cant view the bottom half of each page. Is there any way to zoom out?

What are your hardware specs?
With zoomed in too much, you mean the Menu you get, when you press F1?
I also have such a problem with 2 GPUs i have (nvidia GTX 750 1GB and GTX 750 TI 2G😎.
But only with activated nvidia-driver (remove the # in front of the line #nvidia-driver = true in the batocera-boot.conf file in the root of the USB-drive, where you installed batocera on).

It is hard to change some settings, because you can not zoom out and klick apply button at the bottom area, which is not visible and scrolling down is also not possible 🙁
Do you have the same issue?

I do not have this issue with my GTX 1070. Only with my GTX 750 and GTX 750 TI

joinski i use Nvidia Geforce 550ti card i know some people might disagree but i feel like its powerful enough to handle it. I used it when i played hardcore diablo 3 when it first came out and it worked. The games on ps2 all run and the graphics are 10x better then they were on my ps2.

Thanks for the suggestion to turn off the card. That fixed it so i could change the settings.

do you have any suggestions of what settings to change that might be the issue? i tried wait on vsync refresh to standard but that didn't make a difference.

i am currently testing it with tony hawk pro skater 4. I am having 2 issues. I can see through the ground from everything from the bottom of the screen until 10 meters in front of me. The main issues with the game and the rest of them are that they are slow during action parts. You can notice in the music. Theatrical movie cut scenes are smooth but the character cut scenes go slow and the characters seem drunk. haha still funny sometimes.

Gadianton8 i have not dealt with PS2 Emulation (pcsx2) so much yet.
But what i read so far in several forums, that there are some games, that do not run well with OpenGL under Linux, but run fine with DirectX11 under Windows. Also there are several games, that need hacks or different settings within the emulator (check compatability list, and wiki of pcsx2, and also pcsx2-forum).
And there might be games, that do only run fine under Windows.
So i would suggest, you test those games, you have issues with under Windows first. And then you could test different configurations within pcsx2 (speedhacks, gamehacks, and there are a lot of settings you could change).
Maybe some issues can be fixed, by implementing the latest pcsx2 from git into batocera (so maybe with a newer version of batocera some issues will be fixed). But i'm just a user and not a developer, so i can only guess.

joinski +1 for implementing the latest pcsx2 from git into batocera. I think it solves much issues. Btw DirectX is not supported for Linux.

btw did anyone test to update PCSX2 using the guidelines on the website, or does it not work like this in Batocera??

RetroKevin Whats the link to the PCSX2 Git repo? Or is the PPA package you talk about upto date (ie. what is best to use, GIT Repo or PPA version). I have probs with the released version of PCSX2 so it'd like to get it updated.

Hello, i didnt want to start a new topic, so im gonna talk here, if you dont mind.

Is PCSX2 optimized for batocera? I have tested everything and I cant manage to run ps2 games in 60 fps, no matter wich settings i use. Furthermore, some games run slow in some areas or parts of the game, for example; Metal Gear Solid 2, Zone Of Enders or Devil may Cry, all these game ok, but have some annoying slow downs here and there.
I have a I3 6100 (3.7 GHZ) and a GTX 970 4GB with 8 GB of ram, and no matter what I do, these games have issues. Ive managed to run PES 2007 like butter, after i enabled the nvidia drivers, but still, from what i know, all the games should run smoothly at 60 fps, and thats not the case. I just wanna know if this is not possible at the moment. Same thing happens with CITRA, RESIDENT EVIL Revelations its almost unplayable. Ive also tested the same graphic card with a Ryzen 3 3200G, disabling internal video, and runs almost exactly like the I3.

Im running batocera 5.23 because, honestly, 5.24 has several issues running most emulators.

If it helps, all other emulators (like gamecube, dreamcast, psp, wii or saturn) run great.

I had issues running most games for dreamcast, gamecube or wii. Games wont start, they return to the menu. So I stayed with 5.23. Either way, does 5.24 improve the performance of PCSX2????

i have no issues with 5.24 on dreamcast, gamecube and wii games.
and if there would be a general problem, then many more users would have reported it.
