Something I miss ?

Hello Everyone,

First, thanks a lot for your job. After many comparison on features regarding recalbox, retropie, lakka, I choose Batocera !

I am building a bartop from a PC (core i3 gen 4).
I installed batocera 5.23 on it.
It boots, looks great.

No bios are missing (verified in the config menu)
My problem is that none of my tested rom are working... (tested with 3 , 1 per platform on N64, Dreamcast or neogeo)... I launch it, screen goes black and get me back near 5s after to batocera main window.

Is there something I miss ? Where is the magic parameter ?
Are my roms corrupted (three tested, three not working??? really no luck so ! )

A special point is that for the moment, I didn't plug any gamepad (cable or even bluetooh) and I try to run games with only keyboard.
The comodore default and snes donkeykong embedded are working.

What are your hardware specs in detail? (CPU, GPU model no.)
Do your games have the correct file extension? (check the readmet.txt within the rom-folders)
Did you configure the correct Audio Output Device? (in other words: do you have working sound?)
Do you have any gamepad to plug in? (just for testing, if the games then work)
For neogeo you not only need the bios files, but also the neogeo.zip file has to be placed into the neogeo rom-folder.

it's a core i3 4150 on a dell optiplex 3020. embedded GPU (hd graphics 4400 ) is ASXV2, realtek embedded audio

I will double check the file extension needed (sure my DC game is .cdi extension and neogeo is zipped, will check for the N64).
I did not take a look at audio configuration yet but will take a closer eye on it.

I have a gamesir s3 at home and I will check with it.

Button and arcade stick is on the way from AliExpress. 🙂

You think that lack of audio or gamepad configuration can cause such trouble ?

Yes, from my experience... when i did not configure the correct audio output device after a fresh new installation of batocera, then at least Gamecube and i believe N64 and also Dreamcast games did not work (the same behaviour, as you described... black screen and after a few seconds it goes back to the batocera main window).
Also a gamepad is mandatory for some systems, i guess.
