Roms, Which way runs smoother or is there a difference?

For example i have dark cloud on ps2 that i want to play. I have played through it like 20 or so times so the disc is a little scratched but the game still seems fine. Should i ...
turn my own disc into an iso file so i can play it on the emulator
or
find the rom that someone else did that to already
not sure if it would make a difference speed wise for the game but if there is it would be nice to know

Also just about to put my roms on my external hard drive and have batocera on the usb stick. For the external hard drive do i need to make a folder that just says roms and inside that i just put ps2 or n64 or whatever it is normally in batocera files so when it reads roms it finds it through that directory? If your disc is scratched, than i would rather download an image from the internet, than turn that disc into an iso file.

Regarding your second question unfortunately i can not help, because i only used the drive for my roms, where batocera is installed on. Maybe someone else can answer this question.

Gadianton8 Once you have the Batocera installed and you select the right drive in options, system will automatically create all required folders there.
EDIT: I've seen the video you linked for few seconds from 5:40 and yes - it is as easy as that.

You can always try to turn it into ISO and see if it works fine. Or do as joinski said and just find it online.

BZZ It didn't seem to work 🙁 but i wonder if its not compatible. I select the drive and restart batocera but then it goes back to storage device - internal. I check my external hard drive (My passport 4tb) but it didn't format it for anything. What could i be doing wrong?

Gadianton8 Try changing the name of 'my book' to 'share' and then see if you can see it in Batocera settings.
