WiFi dongle not working

Hi, I have WiFi module 5A (Realtek RTL8811AU chipset) plugged into an XU4. It was detected under Lakka but not Batocera, which I'd prefer to use. So far I've tried ifconfig and don't see anything else listed besides eth0 and lo. Does this mean I need to manually install a driver, and if so, how can I go about doing that? Thanks in advance.

I also use a wifi dongle and I did not install any drivers. plugged it in, activated WIFI in network settings, set up SSID and Key and you are good to go

I went to the activation menu but only saw ethernet listed, which is making me think that the WiFi hardware isn't being seen.
