GameCube boot problem

So I’m pretty new to batocera. I’ve been working on making my computer an emulation machine. I’ve gotten everything I have wanted to play to work except GameCube. Whenever I try and launch a game, it blackscreens and takes me back into the game menu every time. The bios is definitely there. I checked the missing bios folder and GameCube wasn’t on there. So I know that. I thought it might have been that I have been using bad roms but that’s not the case either. I’ve used multiple rom sites to test this but they still won’t boot. The Roms I have been using is in iso format. Do any of you people know what my problem could be?

What kind of hardware do you use?
Does N64 work, or does it also blackscreen and take you back to game menu?

joinski I’m using an hp pro desk with an i5-4750 And intel integrated graphics, runs Dreamcast close or full speed for most games. Psp works great to. N64 worked only when I changed the core to libretto. With libretto, it works fine.

Zeenoe are you on x86? or x64 ? https://batocera.org/compatibility. GameCube is not supported on x86.
If you are on x64 just download new bios anyway to be sure. I also think that GameCube requires sound to be setup to work (as N64). What is your OpenGL ?

Zeenoe Which audio output device are you using? Your PC is connected via HDMI to a Monitor/TV?
As BZZ mentioned... first you need the x86_64 version of Batocera and then you have to set the correct audio output device to get working sound for N64 (non Libretro) and Gamecube (dolphin). Otherwise the games will not start (black screen and back to main menu).

joinski it’s connected to my monitor with a vga cable. I do have the x86_64 version of batocera. How do I set the correct audio output device? Thank you so much for helping me.

Zeenoe The problem was the sound device then ? Asking cause that way if someone else asks the answer is already there ; - ) I would be great if you could provide some explanation on what you have done. Thank you ;-)

BZZ of course, I’ll give it to you step by step,
1. Opened the menu of batocera and clicked on sound settings
2. Look for output device in sound settings (should be the last one)
3. Scroll through the options given to you. it gives you the audio output ports on your computer. mine had: auto, hdmi0,hdmi1,hdmi2,hdmi3,hdmi4, and something called ALC221ANALOG which was my vga output device. There was also a preset called custom
4. I rebooted the system and went on my GameCube page and clicked super Mario sunshine

Then it ran to my surprise. Since mine was vga it was easier for me to find the right output device. For hdmi users, I think it’s gonna take a little more trial and error to find the right one but there are only 5 hdmi output devices to choose from. Auto is what the preset was on and that did not work. I don’t know about custom. I don’t think anybody should really touch that setting. So that’s how it was done. Hope this helps.

Zeenoe For hdmi users, I think it’s gonna take a little more trial and error to find the right one but there are only 5 hdmi output devices to choose from.

The easiest way in my opinion (and what i alway suggest) is to open kodi and look up the audio output device within kodi settings. It is usually always the one, where the TV-brand and/or Model-name/number is written next to it.... for example "...Samsung... HDMI#0).
Otherwise just test all different audio output devices within kodi, until you get working sound, then you know which is the correct one. Then exit kodi and set the same HDMI#-number in Batocera (EmulationStation) Audio Output device.
