Recommended specs for pc?

Batocera is running kind of slow on my pc so I was hoping someone could give me recommendations on what to have in my pc (how much ram, what gpu to use, etc.)
I'm using a 10 year old dell inspiron 760.

ajdelguidice What do you mean by slow? And what guts does that inspiron have ? CPU? RAM? GPU?

BZZ batocera runs at 30 fps normally but when I load one of the more process heavy emulators (like ps2) it runs at 2-4 fps. The computer has 6gb of ram, no gpu, and an old core i5 processor.

ajdelguidice To be fair consoles like PS2 or GameCube and Wii need some more power. I have i5 with 4gb ram and GeForce GT 440. I use the legacy 5.24. It all runs fine. Never actually checked the FPS but when I see my son play I do not see any slowdowns.

I have a 3rd gen i7-3370s @ 3.10Ghz, 16GbDDR3 Ram, SSD, GTX 1050 2Gb GPU and PS2 struggles on the more demanding titles (shadow of the colossus for example). So I would assume you'll need a fairly powerful machine to run PS2 on all games smoothly.

Nice, I was actually wondering how the 3770S runs Ps2 because I have an extra machine with one I was thinking about using for my Batocera build. I might have to consider going with a 3000G, what do yall think? Will a 3000g be able to play everything full speed? Without a gpu and with?

Its up to your opengl version i think.

3000G might be good enough for some less demanding PS2 games.

i have a system with a 3400G and some games run at full speed, but others struggle a bit (more demanding games like god of war for example).

Examples of miniPCs that can run PS2 games well include the Minisforum UM700 or Beelink GTR. Check out ETA Prime’s videos on the various miniPCs running intel and Ryzen APUs.

I though the 3400G had the best Vega graphics with 11 CU? Surprising that it couldn’t run PS2 GOW smoothly.

I wonder is the CPU side be the limiting fator.

GOW runs almost 100% on the 3400G

There are only some scenes, with a lot going on (many enemies at the same time) on the screen, where the framerate drops a little bit.

But maybe there are some settings in pcsx2 which can be optimized to get fullspeed on every PS2 game at any time. I did not yet dig into that more due to not having enough time and will to do so.
