Emulation speed with low spec x86 board

Hello,
I am trying to make Batocera 5.24 x64 run NES games (SNES and Sega would be awesome too) on a weak MSC Q7 BT SBC with 1.1gHz atom processor and 512mB of RAM. I previously had NES emulators and Retropi running on Mint XFCE and NES was running fine but I wanted to see if I could get a better game focused interface and less of a load by ditching the Mint GUI. This is a pet project to repurpose some otherwise trash industrial hardware for fun.

Currently games load and run fine but are in slow motion. I am sure it is a setting somewhere to increase Emulation speed. Any advice on what do do?

you could try if disabling the rewind function brings a performance gain (game settings).
and you could test all different emulator/cores for the systems you want to play (game settings, advanced).
maybe it helps to lower the resolution (game settings, advanced, video mode).

and did you try the 32bit version (x86) of batocera already?

and i would also test older versions of batocera.

I tried the 32bit first with identical results. Resolution is already low 800x600. Will do on trying the older versions, emulators, and disable the rewind function.
