How to exit PS2

I try to use the hotkey to exit game in ps2, but it seem not working.
did anyone know how to exit ps2 game.
(PS Just can connect the keyboard and pass the 'esc' key)

what kind of controller do you use?

Normal PC controller only.

could you specify "Normal PC controller" in more detail please?
and did you try remap all the buttons in ES Menu?
do you have any other controllers, that you could test? like ps3 or xbox360 controllers for example?

Sorry, it a china controller name Batop, and it can change the mode to XBOX, PS3 & PC.
I tried remap the buttons in ES Menu, it also can use Hotkey + A to pop the menu out.
(i can use hotkey + A to pop up mame or Psp menu)

and also i try to connect the Joystick (PXN in xbox360 mode) and it same can't pop the menu.

then you should try all 3 different modes and remap all buttons after changing the mode.
if this still does not work, then i would suggest to use a sensible controller like original Xbox or Sony PS3/PS4 controllers instead of those china crap controller.
