Game Cube emulator only works with latest version of OpenGL?

Hi Guys,

I'm new in the forum here, I hope I'm raising this question in the right place. 🙂 if not, please let me know.
I have a notebook, an Intel® Core™ i3-350M Processor (3M Cache, 2.26 GHz) with a Mobile Intel® HM55 Express Chipset (Intel® BD82HM55 PCH) on board, it is a bit old hardware but for emulators in general it works well.
I have installed the batocera OS in one sdCard and the roms are in another USB pendrive, all of them plugged in the notebook and it is working wonderfully well for the most emulators, very happy with that 🙂
But I have an issue with the game cube games... when I tried to open the rom after some seconds one popup is showed a message the Open GL is not supported... I google it and I realized that my hardware supports OpenGL but not the latest version.
Is it possible to run or change the emulator for game cube to run the games using an older Open GL version? If yes, Can you please give me the procedure, emulator name and if it is possible the instruction How to install it in batocera?

the opengl version displayed in batocera up to 5.6 is wrong.
can you give me the precise message you get ? (can be found in logs/es*.txt)
generally, the problem is related to a driver issue (to support opengl x.y for example, you need a hardware with opengl x.y + drivers supporting x.y).
ideally, can you create a support file and send me it ? (create from menu=>information=>last item). find the created zip file in saves.

thta means ur opengl is not alowed to run gamecube or wii games .. happens to me on an old leptop, but on my pc runs lice a f1 car 🙂

The version allowed by the hardware+driver is : OpenGL version string: 2.1 Mesa 13.0.2
it is not enough.
i don't find the hardware specification about opengl to tell if the cause is the hardware or the driver.
i would say that your card will not allow you to play gamecube/wii/dreamcast
version 3.1 minimum is required (at least for the dreamcast)

Thanks nadenislamarre , you are right. It is time to replace my hardware, anyway I'm enjoyng a lot of compatible emulators... thanks a lot!

Dolphin emulator (GC/Wii) under windows has the advantage of leveraging the DirectX software API for drawing the screen, something that isnt possible under linux. NullDC/Reicast (DC/Naomi) also had a DirectX pluginunder Windows that was sort of usable. Sorry.

@chanchomann you should check what opengl is for. directx has no advantage over opengl as far as i know. it's just a commercial way to force game player to use microsoft platforms.
