One of the main problems that I see from Batocera .
its unpacking itself at every reboot over the full file system. Now, not only you have writing your support (sd,ssd..)
at every boot, so it can wear out your support. This was not the case with Recalbox. So, if you want to make modifications on Batocera , you must recompile your own version, not really a solution.
But maybe from a developer's perspective, this is to increase stability.
in my eyes it would be better to give the user some more freedoms in terms of being able to reconfigure things (and be able to save those reconfigurations, so they do not get overwritten to default at every reboot).
it functions now as an option, something like Reset, together with shutdown and restart.
This would assure in case of erratic behaviour to clean the system files by overriding them, but only on demand.
the reset function can be added in the next version of batocera?
