Question about N64 compatibility

Hello, I really would like to buy this console. I know Batocera is a very nice OS, but I see some issues on N64 games.
Do you think games like Perfect Dark (at least Golden Eye) could be playable with this hardware (I mean does Batocera/libretro can improve the compatibility or is it definitively impossible) ?

I've tried GoldenEye, and at least on the current version, it doesn't run well. I launches and works, but it's extremely slow. On N64, Mario Kart works relatively well, but the sound is choppy. It seems these issues should be solvable, but it's not smooth sailing at the moment.
