Can you play the keyboard systems with a controller?

Hi folks.
I have my Batocera machine plugged into my TV like a console. I use controllers only (8bitdo SF) and don't like using a keyboard, unless as a one off to change settings etc via F1.

Anyway, do any of the keyboard systems (Atari 5200, Amiga 500 etc) work with a controller? C64 is a little different as the emulator uses a virtual keyboard, so that runs fine. Any of the others? If so, how would I configure/set-up?

Eric441 Hey Eric so do u have 2 USB controllers working on batocera Linux with mame etc ..I cant get 2player to work and now thinking that Batocera is a 1p only type thing...can u confirm that u have 2players working on mame with your own button config etc. Cheers Joe in Nz.

I agree that gamepads have sticks that can be used as a mouse. And there are enough buttons to make a basic click on it ( for example, left mouse button, right mouse button, Ecs, Space, Enter). The question then is how to assign all this. Then the f1 button should be changed too.
