Can you change the order of systems on main interface?

Is it possible to change the order the systems appear in on the main interface. E.g., I want to arrange by console release order, then have the various arcade systems, then show the handheld systems in release order.

Hi, I finally found the config file. Through F1 on the top level in the etc folder. I edit the file, but then it goes back to normal when I try going back in it, and the changes don't do anything.

Is there something I'm supposed to do so the changes work? I'm just trying to reorder the systems. Then it goes back to 3DO at the top.

Thanks a lot guys. DONE!!
For anyone searching who wants to know:
Connect keyboard and mouse and hit F1
Navigate to top level
To to 'etc' folder
Emulationstation folder
Copy es_systems.cfg
Navigate to /userdata/systems/configs/emulationstation
Paste cfg file in this folder
Any changes you make in this will be reset once you restart computer, so make sure you copy the contents of the file, create a new file, paste it in, call the file something new then delete the cfg file you copied over and lastly rename this file back to es_systems.cfg
This breaks the link with the other cfg file in the etc folder, so it's not reset.
Then make your changes, go back to interface, refresh games list, and you're done. The changes will stick when you restart.

Eric441 hello. Can you help? I am not sure if I’m doing it wrong. But when I do it. The system breaks and I have to plug the drive in to my Ubuntu to delete my changes.

Atari hello not sure if I am just not understanding the post at that link. I want to arrange them by manufacturer and release date. So like all Nintendo in the order they were released and atari and so on. That link talks about editing specific game systems.

saiyan78 To quote the highlighted blue bubble at the top of that page:

If preferred, the entire file can be overridden by instead using /userdata/system/configs/emulationstation/es_systems.cfg. Be careful if doing this, as the entire notion of maintaining this file as Batocera upgrades its internals (namely Python) thus rely on you. This is really only suitable if you never intend on updating Batocera again.

If you override the entire file, you can set whatever order you please.

Don’t ignore that warning, though.
