How do I change Hotkeys via retroarchcustom.cfg permanently?

I tried to change the retroarchcustom.cfg in system/configs/retroarch manually as I want to get rid of some button layout like input_screenshot_btn = 4 to "false" and some other hotkey settings.

After a reboot the change has been change to default.

Also I tried to change via opening Retroarch and save the configuration, again the change will be revised.

Nukethepeace same here. I need to change the reset button but I can’t save the retroarch.cfg file. I try to modify retroarch.cfg manually (open it with Linux mint on my pc, edit and saving the file). Once reboot Batocera, the file backup to default keybind. Same issue with the rewind option.

for the moment, the key assignment in batocera is a fully automated process.
you cannot change it.
by the way, if you unplug / plug new pads, all the configuration is done automatically.

Is it still not possible to remap hot keys? I understand keeping the controls locked to stay uniform across all gamepads. Also keeps the user manual easier to understand. But on a arcade stick pushing the wrong button is easy… resetting the game for example during a heated vs match. (button 2 on a SF style 6-button layout)
What changing the retroarchcustom.cfg back to default values even though we change them. Can we edit the parent file that pushes the values to retroarchcustom.cfg??

you can now set global.retroarch.toto = 5 or snes.retroarch.toto = 5 in the batocera.conf, it will replace in any case in retroarchcustom.conf.

nadenislamarre I’m new to this… I mean I’m coming from retropie so I am use to configuring within retroarch configs. Can you elaborarte more on this topic. I added the line ‘global.retroarch.toto = 5’ in batocera.conf and the hotkeys I changed defaulted back. I changed the hotkeys both within retroarch and manually editing retroarchcustom.cfg. Could you share each step to make any changes remain?

Key default and changes needed in parentheses
Load State - 3 (change to 4)
Save State - 4 (change to 3)
Reset Game - 1 (change to null)
Maximum user - 16 (change to 4)

drewjbx1 same for me.. reset Button should not to be a ‘shortcut’, in my opinion, it is too easy to press. Did you try to change retroarchcostum.cfg after updating to.30 release, I saw in the changelog that now it will work..

jthemad yah Im running .30 release, will not save changes for me. This is on a Pi3 if that matters.

Just put the following lines somewhere in the batocera.conf it will override the setting in the retroarchcustom.cfg

global.retroarch.input_screenshot_btn = nul
global.retroarch.input_hold_fast_forward_btn = nul
global.retroarch.input_rewind_btn = nul
global.retroarch.input_state_slot_decrease_btn = nul
global.retroarch.input_shader_prev_axis = nul
global.retroarch.input_state_slot_increase_btn = nul
global.retroarch.input_shader_next_axis = nul
global.retroarch.input_ai_service_btn = nul

Works for me on RPI3
