Advanced reset

Hi all,

I use current Batocera (and like it !) with a RPi3 and a Retroflag SUPERPI case. I have followed the technical documentation and have configured Batocera to deal with SUPERPI buttons.

So, currently, in game, if I press the reset button, the game does not reset: the game is exiting and Batocera is rebooting.

That's a problem in games with auto-save activated: I can't reset the game as if I push reset button, the game is exited and auto-saved. No way to reset game and go back to the game beginning.

Is it possible (or considered) to improve reset action? Like:

if in game:

Short reset press: game will reset.
Long reset press: game will exit.

if not in game:

reset press: Batocera will reboot.

dovik This is done in the way you descripe... set Power Switch Device to RETROFLAG_ADV

Following action;

Batocera reboots if you press reset in main screen
You will be kicked back to main screnn if you press reset during gameplay
Power switch works like usual

I have updated the conf file SHARE/system/batocera.conf like this:

system.power.switch=RETROFLAG_ADV

But then, the switch and led stop working (the power button work once to power on, the led once, then buttons and led stop working)

I have updated back the conf file (by setting power switch to RETROFLAG). I will try again with the next Batocera version. (will try to try the current RC)

dovik Ah... sorry forget to mention this was (or will be) first introduced in 5.25.
You can try this installer if you are below BATOCERA 5.24

Recommended is BATOCERA 5.24 and this installer

I have updated to 5.25 and set system.power.switch to RETROFLAG_ADV and it's working better than in the 5.24.

But not as well as wanted: reset button now close the game. Means if you have auto-save on, you could not go back to game main screen.

But maybe it's better for everyone to stop game and not to reset game when reset button is pushed.

I will search and try to update ADV script to do what is better for me.
