run-ahead - does it work?

On x86_64 I set run-ahead with second instance in general menu for all emulator (after all I use is nes, snes and megadrive).

Notwithstanding I use bsnes, snex-netx or mesen-s, when I switch to libretro menu the "run-ahead" seems to be turned off. How to check out is run-ahead with second instance turned on or turned off?

I removed all files in /config directory and run-ahead still does not work. Run-ahead options are not forwarded to libretro.

michal I've been having the same problem on the rasp-pi. you can save it retroarch but thats as far as i gotten.

I have even changed /etc/retroarch.cfg by adding:
run_ahead_enabled = "true"
run_ahead_frames = "2"
run_ahead_hide_warnings = "false"
run_ahead_secondary_instance = "true"

And of course I saved changes with batocera-save-overlay

But it changed northing. libretro does not turn on run_ahead mode.

No, it's beyond my skills and no one replied to my bug report. It seems to me that no one actually uses that feature or there is placebo effect (people turn on run-ahead, it does not work but they think that latency is smaller).

michal Damn, maybe in 5.26 it will work right, In the batocera.conf I tried

nes.run_ahead_enabled = "true"
and
nes.enabled=1
or
nes.runaheadenabled=1

Along with other stuff and still cant get it to work, only if i do it within retroarch and save it via core or game.. good thing it does save after a reboot now .

michal no I have not tried the dev 5.26 yet. maybe this week

I just tried version 03-30 on rpi3, fresh installation and upgrade from 5.25 - everything is fine. I'm waiting for x86_64 version.

Yes, there has been a snafu on 5.25, it will be fixed in the next release.

lbrpdx I think I'm doing it wrong, do I just copy over the file over into some folder or do i need to login via the terminal..ssh..

You have to copy https://raw.githubusercontent.com/batocera-linux/batocera.linux/master/package/batocera/core/batocera-configgen/configgen/configgen/generators/libretro/libretroConfig.py into /usr/lib/python2.7/site-packages/configgen/generators/libretro/ (replace the 5.25 version of this file actually). Then batocera-save-overlay to keep it persistent upon reboot.

lbrpdx Hey thank you .. I was about 95% the way there just needed to do that batocera-save-overlay thing in the terminal..this should work with x86 too?

Yes, it's the same libretroConfig.py for all supported architectures.

lbrpdx Cool thanks, now I can turn it on in per system configuration, maybe in the next release we can turn it off per game in advance game options rather than just turn it on, for the hand full of games that run a bit slow with it on.
