problem installing Batocera on HDD

Hello,
after problem using hdd on RAID (another thread i opened here) i added a 320gb hdd to my pc (formated it), its not part of the raid. i went to system and to "install batocera on a new disk", i chose the 320gb (maxtor) hdd and chose the X86_64 architecture and started the process, i got an error and a referense to the logs, there i got a massage that it needs to download batocera and needs 1123mb , and "not enugh apace on /userdata to download the update
exit code: 256.
can anyone explain please whats the problem? it sure not the "not enough space" as the hdd got 320gb.

btw, use rofus as he uses and not balenaEtcher couse etcher "close" the usb after mounting the ubonto and you cant copy the batocera iso to it, but withg rufus it keeps the usb free space

Simplest way is to just Install the downloaded Original Batocera image to your HDD with Win32DiskImager.Then boot in PC,it will auto expand ile System.I did this with a 500gb HD.Works great !
BTW: Win32DiskImager works fine.

was the HDD pluged to the pc as regular (internal) or external drive? if its external, then Etcher can work too, the way i used, was to put it on internal drive.

was getting that error on trying to install to old laptop - turns out my usb was not big enough (8GB) for it to download the image (thats the problem, it has nowhere to put the file before it installs (cant be stored on the hard drive as that is where it is installing to)) - so I put in a small 4gb usb and selected that as storage device and it was able to install by downloading to the small usb

I have the same issue.

But i’ve used a 250GB usb stick to install batocera to. I’m running Ubuntu. So i’m using the startup disk creator.

I’ve uncommented #autoresize=true to autoresize=true in `batocera-boot.conf`. But that doesn’t seem to have any effect. The option is also re-commented after startup.

Any help is really appreaciated.
