There is a hudge variety of LCD screens, so nobody could tell you. As example the Waveshare Game HAT has an hdmi screen that connect directly to the PI port. Here nothing to do. For all other directly with ribbon connected screens, you need an lcd driver that support it, and the right configuration. All depends of the lcd display.
