configuring DOS games

So I managed to get MechWarrior 2 working in Dosbox, however the menu music isn't working. I am aware that MW2's menu music goes through the sound card, so to fix it I'd just run the setsound.bat in Dosbox and change the music to MT-32. Can I do this in Batocera (mount everything like normal, but be able to adjust it within dosbox).

Matthew36x If there is a setsound.bat that is executable in DOS you just need to create yourself 'dosbox.bat' with setsound.bat in it. Then open it, change what you need and then modify dosbox.bat to the game executable. If you never used it make sure you read _info.txt. ;-) good luck

Just did that. I managed to open the sound configuration but still no menu music. For some reason, the midi music works just fine when doing DOSbox on Windows, but not in Batocera. The sound effects and in-game music work just fine.

Matthew36x Try different devices in setup. Also Batocera might not like that setup. Try different options in 'per emulator settings'. and in 'sound settings'

BZZ No luck. I think I'll mostly run my DOS games in Windows where I can use MUNT to get MIDI audio. Thanks anyway. I still like Batocera though, especially with N64 games.

Matthew36x You can also try PSX or Saturn versions.

I visited this game in DOS and ran SETSOUND as well as the SETUP file in the directory. In both cases it never gave me an option for MIDI setup. It allowed for Digital Audio Driver only. Are you sure the original game used MIDI? You can verify that there is MIDI audio on the PC? I can't get MIDI audio in this game but I haven't run DOSBox on a PC in a while.

You might also need to define a dosbox.cfg in the game folder ?
