most of the sound issues is about batocera not configuring it correctly on some pc (i think that it doesn't choose the output you intended by default). the thing is that i have it on none of my pc. but several people have this problem. so, it's not trivial to fix without reproducting myself the problem. External cards should be supported, but i guess that the problem will be the same.
