Save Retroarch config for Video scale ?

RPI3B+/Roms via USB/Batocera 5.25.

Hi, I recently bought an “hdmi to scart converter” in order to play on an old 36 cm CRT. I swear the quality is AMAZING and the sensations of my childhood are there!
On the other hand, to get an image that takes up the whole screen, I have to go to retroarch> settings> video> scale> setup my aspect ratio and enable “the whole scale”. No matter how much I save in “configuration”, I must systematically redo the manipulation as soon as I launch a game :( the config is not saved when I quit the game.

I specify that I also have a retropie image on another sd card and it works: via that os everything is saved.

Please can you help me because I prefer Batocera !!!

Yep.. nothing seems to save in retroarch, only thing I have been able to save is remaps. Batocera cripples RetroArch to the point of frustration.

If you want total freedom in terms of configuration you have to switch to Retropie.
Batocera’s aim and concept is plug’n’play. This will result in restrictions, but on the other hand simple users can have out-of-the-box experience without the need to fiddle around with settings and it is easier for the Batocera-Team to give support.
For more experienced users with special use cases, it will not match. But those users have other oportunities (like Retropie for example) or they could develop/compile their “own” Batocera(-fork), if they want.

But if you want to help and contribute the batocera project and have good suggestions for Options, that should be integrated in Batocera EmulationStation menu for certain RetroArch settings (in Advanced Game Settings), then feel free to come to the batocera-discord and post it under #wish and/or talk to one of the Devs.

First off thanks for replying.. I am starting to realize what you are saying and understand the team wanting a simple platform that anyhone can just turn on and play. Overall its an awesome front end with nice little features that put it over the top. I only have a couple issues which I think should be fixed, which I posted, people with arcade setups that have trackballs need the ability to change the mouse index until it works (the default is 0… mine worked at 2)
Then have it permantley saved within retroarchcustom.cfg (always reverts back).
I think its something that can be added in EmulationStation controller settings. But for now there must be some workaround for that. Anyhow I might just take a look at batocera discord… there are a couple other things that might be worth looking at which I can share, thanks for the suggestion.

Okay, regarding workarounds to make this work the way you want to have it, this may be possible somehow. Maybe other users or one of the devs can help you to find a working workaround for your use-case.

joinski Got it working by editing the libretroConfig.py… adding the line -
retroarchConfig[‘input_player1_mouse_index’] = “2”

Then do a batocera-save-overlay command via SSH, all is working now. Thanks to @voljega on discord for the help!

Glad there was a workaround solution to this!
I have been running into similar issue with Naomi/Atomswave lightgun games configured to Mouse control. Got everything to work perfectly but cannot save settings/input config. Always reverts back.
