Sound issues on X86_64 on 5.26 beta

Hello all !

I have switched from 5.25 to 5.26 beta. Great to have openbor !! However I have many sounds issues Like crackling. It’s like if sound stutters (had nothing like that before, sound was great until 5.25). I use nvidia card and sound through hdmi. The issue is there if I enable nvidia driver or not.

That would be nice if someone else could test and confirm if it is general issue. For instance I have this on scummvm games (you can launch for instance The curse of monkey Island and listen to the sound of the intro video, same goes with blade runner), I have this also on N64, for instance Goldeneye. Again, I did not have that on 5.25.

chris256 Greetings! I have observed another, in beta 5.26. with games all the rules. But why can’t I turn up the volume in the sound settings? You move the slider, but there is no real sound gain in the system�� At 5.25, there were no problems with this. I have to turn up the volume on the subbuffer.

Hello all ! Following my remarks of yesterday concerning sound cracking in 5.26, I continued my investigations. I can confirm that the issue is even present in the background music ! I’ll try to see if it happens also via digital output (here it is via hdmi). Again, first time with this issue for me. Working in all previous versions. It is on an nvidia card but same issue when nvidia driver is disabled.
So I just tested with digital audio out instead of HDMI and it is working. So there is a problem with audio HDMI, at least for me.

chris256 Did you try changing the cable? Or port on the screen you are plugging it into ?

Leostrange It might be particular bug. But this happens when there is a ‘problem’ with the sound device itself. I.E. if I select incorrect output on my Batocera it will let me increase volume to max but as soon as I close it it goes back to ‘0%’.

Hello everyone!
The sound crackling issue has been corrected in latest beta. It was related to the sound server, not to a cable problem but thanks for the comments! Concerning the issue raised above about the sound volume that cannot be set, it is the same for me. Not a big issue for me since I change the volume on a separate amplifier. Anyway I know that the way it is done, some cards cannot change the volume on digital outputs and it is related to material. Have a nice day!
