Fresh Install batocera no mame tab menu pc 64bit

Hi all

I have the latest version of batocera 5.25 for pc 64 bit.
I have placed 1 rom in the mame roms folder so Mame shows up on the emulator selection screen.

I installed before and placed all roms and had same problem..so I did a fresh install with one rom.

For some reason the Tab key for the mame menu does not show up.

I realized this when I couldnt figure out ho to press 2 players on any game.

there seems to be no defualt.cfg file under the mame 2003/config folder and I have been frustrated trying to fix this can anyone help.

Is this using the standard MAME core, with MAME 2016 roms? As I have the same situation… Tab key does not bring up the tab menu…. so not cheats or anything else….
