Right Romset for Arcade games

Hi guys.
I spent a lot of time to find a final solution for my Custom 40gb image.
Id like to know what is best Romset and emulator for these system , and how to configure them.
I need those information in order emulate them correctly avoid spend more time on it.
So system are :
Mame up to K1/K2 is ok - FBA ( CPS1/ 2 /3)
I’m using Batocera x64 , Intel dual core 2 , 2gb Ram , Intel Graphic cards Built it.

I think is enough to emulate up to PSX ( not all game , of course )

I use the MAME 0.219 (only working) romset with my Batocera X64. You’ll probably need to manage your roms with ClrMamePro. In your Batocera’s MAME options set it to “libretro_mame”. That’s the best arcade core available. Your Intel Graphic chip could limit your experience with 3D games like PSX’s games. The only way to know is make tests on your hardware by yourself.

I’was playing some PSX 3D games and they’re working without any issues expect Crashbandicot 3 warped , I’ve noticed some slowdown in some level of game , but others work 100%.
I didn’t any software changed , all are default / auto settings.
About mame , I’ve seen a package online called full romset set mame2003 plus for batocera is about 11GB. I didn’t download yet via offline link / torrent too.
If I’d download it , should I change my core from default to other?

TLDR : either latest mame if you are on PC x64, otherwise mame139 (mame2010) or mame078 (mame2003+)

Yes, you can set your Batocera’s Mame emulator to libretro Mame 2003+ (0.78). It’s a good starter pack for beginners. But its roms content is very outdated. I think you should be able to find a more recent starter pack. If you want enjoy arcade emulation at its most, you’ll need to employ a rom manager like ClrMamePro. To check your rom files consistencies are fine and to update your roms set with soonest Mame roms packs.

@Gnomx > forgot to mention FBNeo which is the best solution for 2D games.
For 3D games you’ll need the latest Mame however it wil require a powerfull PC to have good performances

Comparing to MAME, some 2D arcade games are missing with FinalBurn Neo. However its last 0.2.97.44 fullset is better than the MAME 2003 fullset. FinalBurn Neo requires a rom manager like ClrMamePro to check and update its romset properly too.

So do I have download FBAneo instead of MAME2003? I’ve downloaded MAME2003 plus romset but inside there’re a tons of games that aren’t working.

@Andearoid > FBNeo do misses some games, but all the most important are here, whereas mame2003plus doesn’t emulate CPS3 or is missing some PGM games

Regarding the romset it’s true that abandoning any kind of romset tagging for fbneo leads to some complexity to get the right romset but you can easily find one from end of last year and they really didn’t add much games since then, even if those don’t work it not that big of an issue

I’m just finishing to install this Romset , and it works like a charm.
K1 and k2 don’t work , mk series it’s a little bit slower than Mame 2003 plus , but is acceptable.

How can I make No working games into Working ?? 🤔

k1 and k2 are suppose to work, the fbneo dev said it, but you have to find how to make them work, there should be something somewhere from what he said
