Controllers stops responding each game exit/start

Hi,
I have a problem with my wireless controller (https://esperanza.pl/esperanza-gamepad-bezprzewodowy-ps3-pc-usb-gladiator-czarny,176,1697.html - recognized as SHANWAN PC/PS3/ANDROID) which I’m using with HP T620 terminal. After exiting the game (no matter which platform) controller stops responding to almost all buttons. In most cases pressing START helps, but sometimes I have to switch controller OFF and ON again. Sometimes it happens also when I run the game.
I have tried to use different USB ports, but with no luck.

Has anyone encountered a similar problem?

chrisub You said different USB port which would indicate you’re on cable but linking a wireless controller ? Unless you mean Bluetooth dongle or proprietary receiver ?? After you pair the controller did you configure it? Are you on version 5.25 or another? Does the controller disconnect only when quitting games ? Does it do it on all consoles or just particular ones?

chrisub I just googled this pad and read some reviews and many people say it disconnects for no reason. Also people say that it bad quality in all ways.

BZZ It’s wireless controller with USB 2,4GHz dongle (as you can see here https://esperanza.pl/gfx/big/1509457455.5029.jpg). It does not disconnects while gaming, but only after quitting (and sometimes after starting) game on all platforms, all cores and all games. I was testing Lakka couple of days ago and I didn’t have such problems, so I’m quite sure it’s not device-specific problem.

because your controllers are working over wifi 2.4ghz and not bluetooth, this might not help you, but you could nevertheless give it a try:

in the batocera.conf file (located under share/system) you can change the PS3 controller drivers from bluez to “official” or “shanwan”

Please enable only one of these

Choose a driver between bluez, official and shanwan

bluez -> bluez 5 + kernel drivers, support official and shanwan sisaxis

official -> sixad drivers, support official and gasia sisaxis

shanwan -> shanwan drivers, support official and shanwan sisaxis

controllers.ps3.driver=bluez <- change this

Otherwise you could come to the discord channel and ask for help there. don’t forget to tell, that you have those issues only with batocera and not (for example) with lakka (so i guess it could be a driver related issue. lakka seems to use other drivers for your controller than batocera does)

joinski Thanks for reply. I tried to set controllers.ps3.driver to official and shanwan (with PC restart) but that changed nothing. What is the name of discord channel you have mentioned?

I have figured it out! There is a way to permanently disable some analog function (don’t know the purpose) by pressing ANALOG button for 5 seconds. After that - no more need to press START button each game quit! :)
