Vega 8 Drivers

I see that there are drivers for nvidia cards, but in my case, I use an AMD Ryzen 3 3200G with integrated Radeon Vega 8 graphics card, and although it works well, I would like to know if you can put drivers, to be able to use Vulkan?

+1 it’ll be nice to have Vulkan support for AMD (IGP or external cards) on next release of Batocera…

J’ai perso un APU AMD qui est un peu juste sur OpenGl mais fluide avec Vulkan (testé sur Linux avec Dolphin)
Des drivers avec support Vulkan pour les petit APU AMD/Intel pourraient être utile pour certains

but all in all batocera will work with a ryzen apu right? i get a little nervous, i bought a Mini PC from china (nuc like) with a ryzen u2500 for better game performance

Gammelstulle Schöner Name :) I have a Ryzen 3400G and a Ryzen 2400G. Both are running well with Batocera and can run GameCube and Wii with 2x resolution. The question about Vulkan drivers is only because with Vulkan instead of Open GL the Vega GPU should have even more performance.

Cemi70 Danke dir :D. Then I feel calmer. :) Thanks for the info, currently batocera is running on my Lenovo M93p, with an i5 4570T (like a champ, botocera is realy stable to the other alternatives out there) Later the system will be transferred to my Ryzen 2500u setup.

Yes!!! :) Batocera 5.27 beta 20200811 Supports Vulkan for Dolphin and it runs fine.

Go to “games settings” then “per system advanced configuration” and look for GameCube or Wii. There you can choose Vulkan as renderer and many other options, like internal emulator resolution and vsync.

Do you know if it will also be available for Retroarch?

I would really like to be able to test the new Parallel RDP using Vulkan to offload calculation on GPU… I’m not sure my Core i3 4160t will have good performances on every N64 games…but I already have some games that work fine with Mupen64-Next using pure software Angrylion so, hopefully, this could give me the boost I need to run most games full speed.

Alucard unfortunately it seems that Vulkan is enabled for Dolphin only. I use libretro/mednafen for psx Emulation. When i select Vulkan as renderer in Retroarch menu then a message “could not detect vulkan renderer” appears when the game starts.

I just checked the Changelog on github (https://github.com/batocera-linux/batocera.linux/blob/master/batocera-Changelog) and on line 20 (* add: Vulkan support) it was added. I’ll test tomorrow on my 2200g. Or if anyone downloads the beta and test please let us know

With Beta 5.27 20200813 on my Ryzen 2400G something is wrong. Even in Emulationstation menu the screen judders like vsync is off.
Dolphin is now unplayable.
Even SNES doesn’t run smooth anymore.

With the 2 day older Beta 5.27 20200811 Dolphin runs with Vulkan renderer so much smoother than 5.26 stable.

As it is a beta i will wait for next beta release.

Now i have tested the Beta 5.27 20200813 on my i7 5500u laptop.
With the Intel laptop i have none of the problems with juddering or that it seems vsync is off, like i described one post above with the Ryzen APU.

It seems that with this beta the Ryzen APU GPU driver is broken or something.
Eventually it is neccesary that the AMD Ryzen GPU driver needs a version bump?

I’ve also noticed that juddering screen as described above.

I’m using a MSI Radeon R7 and noticed choppy framerate within ES and definitely within SNES emulation. Framerate slow and audio choppy…

On another PC with AMD R7 250 GPU the Beta 5.27 20200813 judders too and performance is very slow.
There seems to be something broken with AMD GPUs in this beta.
