daerlnaxe Do it exactly like below including capital letters:
cp /etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc ~/.xinitrc
export DISPLAY=:0.0
xrandr
This will show you what resolutions and displays are currently available/connected.
Then input below to open text editor.
vi ~/.xinitrc
Press ‘i’ to get into edit mode and change line:
# xrandr -s 640x480 -r 60
To whatever you want and make sure you remove ‘#’.
I.E.:
xrandr -output HDMI-1 -s 1920x1080 -r 60
or
xrandr --output HDMI-1 --mode 1920x1080 --rate 60
or
whatever you want.
Make sure you check what the HDMI is called exactly and you might have to try few different ways I.E.:
If ‘export DISPLAY=:0.0’ told you that it is called HDMI-1 try HDMI-1, HDMI1, HDMI. I only encountered this problem once but it was enough ;-)
Then press ‘ESC’ and input:
:wq
Then continue:
exec emulationstation --windowed
/etc/init.d/S31emulationstation stop
/etc/init.d/S31emulationstation start
cp ~/.xinitrc /etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc
