Amiga WHDLoad support

Looks that with Batocera 5.26 I can finally run Amiga WHDLoad games. But only OCS/ECS and only with P-UAE. Just a hint for those who were waiting for such a feature. I had to repack all the game zips (move all the files from the folder to zip archive root). Additionally P-UAE offers quick menu with basic mouse functions, so you don’t have to use external mouse or a trackball to play the games.

One thing : I use Batocera on 15KHz CRT screen : FS-UAE doesn’t work at all for all version of Batocera ….

Agree, on 5.26 I can run Amiga WHDLoad games (zip folder) on OCS/ECS and on amiga1200 only with P-UAE. But when I tried LHA files, the game doesn’t lunch.

Amiga was my second computer (My favorite computer) and my first game was xenon in 1988. So I tried it :-)

in 5.26 in A500 or A1200 :
ADF version the game is slow … in zip(ADF) format it’s the same … (BUT these work fine with 5.25 !!! Amiga500/1200)
In WHDload, the game is just fine !

I remembered that i tried amiberry on RPI3B with the same issue with this game (only WHLOAD was good).

Mea culpa, I tried an LHA file with Xenon_v1.2_0399.lha and It works fine with Libretro PUAE on PCx64bits (Batocera 5.26). The working WHDload Xenon_v1.2_0399.zip is the same file of LHA folder but with Zip extension :-)

Before I used a wrong xenon.lha (with xenonHD folder into).

you could alreay load whdl games long before 5.26 even with amiberry, but they need to be in lha or zip not decompressed folders

Here beastieboy tried on PCx64Bits not on Rpi( amiberry ) so the only emulators on it are FS-UAE and Libretro-PUAE. I’m agree with him the only way you can run Amiga WHDLoad games is with Libretro-PUAE in zip folders on 5.26. It’s doesn’t work in .lha.

But I’m agree with you amiberry works well with RPI3 with WHDLoad since Batocera 5.20 (Amiberry Version v2.24b9)
I think :). I knew you did good job for Amiberry on Recalbox before :-)

lr-puae is supposed to work with whdl in lha though, and I’m pretty sure someone managed to do just that on pi3 ? what do you mean by ‘not working’ ?

When I say LHA file doesnt work it means the game not lunch and it’s strange because if I remenber the game in LHA format worked with PCx64bits (Batocera 5.25). but not the WHDload (zipped folder) …

On Pi3 using 5.26 and PUAE Emu with .lha WHDLOAD files. Works great.
