[fixed by settings change] lr-atari800 core broken sound (OGA Black Edition)

Core works ok but almost no sound and it is heavily distorted if exists at all (running latest (as of 28.06) stable Batocera image).

OS roms are provided for the emulator and all games start without issues. However every game either does not make any sound or “burps” something instead of real music od sound effects. I have already tried to disable HF pokey, disable stereo pokey or to change sampling rate to 48000 (as suggested on other forums) but with no effect. I’ve also tried to switch between PAL and NTSC modes and did not help either (altough I’d preffer anyway to stay with PAL ;)

All other emulators based on libretro work fine.

Any hints?

wolfensg Ok, the following settings configured on RetroArch and saved as overrides for lr-atari800 core helped:

Settings/Audio/
Output: alsa, latency set to 40ms
Resampler: sinc, quality: normal
Volume Gain: 0
Mixer Volume Gain: 0

All working fine from software perspective :) Thanks for all your hard work with Batocera!

Unfortunately this doesn’t really work on RP3B+. If I change Volume gain to 1 the sound is there, but when I save core overrides and try to start a game again it won’t load anymore, gets back to Emulationstation. When I delete the atari800.cfg in \system.config\retroarch\config\Atari800 the games load again but the sound issue is back.

Ok tried another way, the only setting I had to make to fix the odd sound on lr-atari800 was to change the audio_volume = “8.000000” to audio_volume = “0.000000”. I now saved the config as global retroarchcustom.cfg and not as core override. The 5200 games still load and sound normal now!

Maybe this can be fixed in the next version.

Thank you! totally solved the problem using these settings that you indicated. to save and not lose again just go into overrides and save in the three options that are inside: Save core overrides, save content directory overrides and save game overrides. It worked perfectly for audio problems only atari 2600! For the Sega32X it says everything the same but the problem continued, then I was testing other options, until that I discovered in Volume gain (db) I put 10.0 and the sound returned to normal. thank you very much, now it’s excellent! Congratulations on your support!

I haven’t seen the fix to break anything at least on my O-Droid Go Advance BE (I can output audio either to built-in speaker or to headphones plugged into onboard mini-jack)
