as is being described here
https://atariage.com/forums/topic/238563-screen-resolution-of-jaguar-games/
the atari jaguar for example (also systems like 3do) mainly only used resolutions at or
below 240p. (around 320×240 320×224) the lowest resolution one can set in
hotkeybatocera/advanced settings per system/videomode per emulator
is 640×480 (480p). – > now i noticed a ludicrous speed increase (over 400% on psx1)
when adjusting this resolution to 640×480 from 1920×1080.
i can now run psx1 on 100% with 60pfs and hard gpu sync on , before in 1920×1080
resolution it was not even playing movies correctly, with so slow speed it
made games unplayable. now the 3do and for example atari jaguar emulator on
some systems (rpi3b etc) might just need to get one little boost to get to 100% 30 fps
with maybe.. vsync on , and hard gpu sync off.
is it possible to implement a 240p videomode for certain emulators, to get them
to just run at full speed on older hardware/desktops/raspberry pi3B/or even rpi2 ?
the jaguar had almost no games (or none) running at res higher than 240p, as i read
in the above article.
