Forcing different screen resolution

I tried to change screen resolution following the guide from wiki https://wiki.batocera.org/display_issues

After saving everything and rebooting machine, the res didn’t change. So I manually edited the file /usr/bin/batocera-resolution and changed variables MAXWIDTH and MAXHEIGHT. After modification the file needs to be saved additionally with ‘batocera-save-overlay’ command.

For me, lowering resolution to 720p (1280 × 720) dramatically improved performance.

beastieboy Normally in “games settings” then “per system advanced configuration” and then your system of choice, you can choose a resolution for the selected system.
That can be helpful if your TV forces batocera to 4k resolution and your system can only handle 720p or 1080p.

Many thanks for sharing this! I have had the same issue and I was never able to change my video resolution to 1600×1200 by following the guide on the wiki. Your solution worked like a charm!

To me looks like that somehow the file /etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc doesn’t get read by Batocera when it boots up.
