Choppy sound on Intel NUC via HDMI

Hi! I run Batocera from USB pendrive. I chose HDMI0 as sound output. After reboot music on main screen play perfect, but every game has choppy, glitch sound. I test on PSX Lomax, and NES Contra. Video and game speed is perfect, but sound is choppy. In my Intel NUC i have Intel I3-6100. Please, help me fix sound issue. Thanks for yours time!

First try to control the sound via an analog output. would be inetresant to know if you have the same problem. maybe just your pandrive is odd and you have problems with the read / write speed

Batocera amd audio on Dell Precision M4700 work correct, only on Intel NUC is this issiue.

I am having the same problem using my Intel NUC8i5BEH. I am using Batocera 29 ×86_64. The problem occurs for both HDMI and analog output. Any ideas how to solve the problem?

BTW if I use the same usb stick on my laptop, then I do not experience any issues as a choppy sound.

Hi Folks, I have an update on my problem. I tested my Intel NUC 5 with batocera on another PC Display (1080p) and there HDMI sound works perfect. It seems, that my Toshiba TV (1080p as well) is the cause for the sound problems. However, it seems somewhat strange to me that the problem persists even if for analog sound output when the NUC is connected to my TV via HDMI. On the other hand the sound issues are the same for RetroArch running on Win10 although only for emulation (other Win10 applications do not come with sound issues).

Overall, it may well be that neither batocera or the Intel NUC 5 are responsible for the sound issues.

Had some time to perform some high-level investigations on the problem.
First, the problem was not only a choppy sound but also a significant slow-down in general; though the first indicator that there is a problem was the choppy sound even for gb emulation.
Second, I found a workaround to migitate the problem. On video output for my TV I had to select the format '‘1920×1080I’ (with an ‘I’ after 1080 for ‘interlaced’ I guess) and not '‘Auto’ or '‘1920×1080’ (which outputs video as 1080p as I guess). After that I found no slow-downs or choppy sound or similar running batocera 29.

I confirm this worked for me as well, on NUC7I7BNH connected with HDMI to a Denon amplifier and to a Sony Bravia TV, 10+ years old hardware. Only one tested ROM had normal sound and fps was stuck at 50fps, fps is now 60fps and everything is perfect. It looked like a pal/ntsc issue.

It’s a Toshiba 40XV733. Unfortunately, I currently have no other TV for testing available. But on my PC display (LG 27EA73) everything just work perfectly out-of-the-box.
