Updating software

How do you update either the C2 or the x86 version with out, having to wipe the storage and having to load everything rom system all over again? Is there a way to just update the software from 5.5 to 5.8 easily?

Have you tried the system update option in the system menu? Are your devices connected to the internet?

i have multiple times, but it either says theres not updates or it will go to the process and reboot but as soon as it comes back to the main menu , it will show the same version number.

can you do a report file (menu system/information) and send us the file batocera-report which is generated in the saves directory.
i guess you've not enough space to be able to do the upgrade.
if you access by putty, you may run /recalbox/scripts/recalbox-upgrade.sh to see the message too.
