I am sorry for bringing this up again, as I have read probably every single thread that is in this forum about people who have Nvidia graphic cards in their laptops with that stupid Optimus technology. I am attempting to make Batocera work on an Alienware 15, which has a Haswell i7 4710HQ with a 970m graphics card. I am using the regular build as my card is currently supported. I have attempted to do the activation with removing the # in the conf file. Nothing. I have attempted to do the batocera-hybrid-nvidia, and it just boots to black screen on the laptop (causing me to rename the system folder to reconfigure and get display again). I have attempted the bash script that was posted (still results in black screen and renaming of system folder to get it working again), but from reading further it appears I may have to edit something in there to address the proper location of my video card, but after dumping all my device locations, it appears the “default setting” in there is 100% the same as mine. My card bus id is 01:00.0 and the one in the script is 1:0:0 which should translate to the same, no? (the last version of Unix I used was AIX, to give you an idea of my utter lack of experience in current commands)
The sole reason I want this, is for going out of town for work, 2 weeks at a time, to a fly in site, and there is no way I can bring my rig, on which this is NOT a problem. I do apologize for this, as it appears that this is a serious issue thanks to nvidia and there is no cookie cutter resolution that will make everything work for everyone, instantly.
I will greatly appreciate any assistance with this, and I thank you for your time in reading this.
My other option is to build or buy a NUC, but I would prefer not to do that as I would then need to also buy a TV for the bunk room and hope the person staying there when I am not, doesn’t break/steal it.
