My device is HP t610 thin client. The specs are AMD Dual-Core T56N with AMD HD6320 on chip video. It has small SSD chip and I also boosted its RAM to 5gb.
Recently I discovered bato, installed its 5.26 version and started tinkering. The device is connected to a 4K TV via DVI (device) to HDMI (TV) cable. Everything was perfect, except maybe the sound. I was going to use my old speakers via 3.5mm, but it was awful. I tried to work work it around and found another output device in the settings. It was called something like HDMI 0 Generic. I rebooted and bingo - the sound was playing through my TV. Turns out it is possible to get audio signal from a DVI port. I was happy, everything was good, even started playing. And then I upgraded to 5.27. Why… You should never fix what is not broken…
On 5.27 I don’t have image on my TV. It’s a common issue as I found out later. The image is fine on my 23’’ benq display though. I decided to go back to 5.26. I thought it was okay to install it again but now the system is forcing the 5.27 update, which has display issues. Whatever. I plucked the SSD and connected it to my pc. Etched an image to it directly, put into my thin client again, booted up, set it up and pah - no sound.
I just don’t understand why. I use same device, same image, same cable, same port, but there is no sound. I get it there are no psychics here, but maybe I missed something or don’t know something that is below my qualification?
Or it was because I installed by etching image to an SSD by connected to my PC?
Sorry for that wall of text. Appreciate any interest to my problem.
P.S. I love the project despite any issues i had. I’m a retro games veteran. There is no other OS that can provide such a seamless retro games experience as Batocera does. If we can fix my sound issue I will be the happiest person in the world. Cheers.
UPD Found another, third sound device in Kodi. Turns out that device was listed in ES settings as ‘custom’.
