Nespi 4 case - safe shutdown script

I’m running v5.27 on a pi 4 using the Nespi 4 case, and installed the safe shutdown script for Batocera from the Retroflag site. Install appeared to run fine with no errors reported.

When I use the case’s power button to turn off the Pi, I see the power LED blink a few times, and the pi shuts down almost immediately. Can anyone confirm if this is normal behavior, or if I might be hurting my pi/SD card using this process? The shutdown felt faster than I’m used to (previous Retropie user…), so I wasn’t sure if this is normal or if it’s cause for concern.

I have same thing doubt… it´s too fast for me to feel right.

Thanks for confirming it wasn’t just me experiencing this. When shutting off, are you shutting down from the Batocera menu or from the power button on the Nespi? I’ve been continuing to use the power button and haven’t had any issues yet. The one time I used the Batocera menu full shut down, it shut down to the point that the screen had a single line of text remaining (I think it was something like [powerdown] or something like that), and I ended up just using the Nespi power button to completely shut it off.

The shutdown is fast!
But please remove the RETROFLAG script.

Establish SSH conenction
type batocera-es-swissknife --remount
type nano /boot/config.txt
remove line or comment line dtoverlay=RetroFlag_pw_io.dtbo
remove file RetroFlag_pw_io.dtbo with rm /boot/overlays/RetroFlag_pw_io.dtbo
delete autostart file with rm /userdata/system/custom.sh
delete directory retroflag with rm -r /userdata/RetroFlag

BATOCERA is since version 5.27 capable to use the RetroFlag for NESPi4 without additional installation.

[deleted] Thanks for the info! I ran the steps you posted above, along with the steps in the wiki. I did notice a slight difference in behavior with the Batocera splash screen coming up right before full shutdown. Feels good that it’s a quick shutdown still, and feels more ideal seeing the splash screen instead of turning off directly from the games menu or otherwise. Thanks!
