No sound trough HDMI

Hello,

I have a small problem with the computer on which I installed Batocera.

Indeed I can’t get sound from the HDMI port of my graphics card, I checked as some people say with Kodi trying all the possible audio outputs but nothing to do, I have absolutely no sound via HDMI.

So I tried to do ALT+CTRL+F2 to access alsamixer and I think I found the problem but I don’t know how to solve it, do you have an idea ?

As you can see i only have those “SPDIF” things and i can’t change nothing, i wonder if there is a way to fix it, i’m hoping about alsa “detection mistake”

Here is my config, it’s a old computer, but it’s a small one, so i can put it under the main TV, i tested a lot of emulator and are running fine (PS1/DC/GB/PSP (with upscale x3), dispite of the configuration (except PCSX2 but, i’m not surprise about that)

CPU : Intel I3 530M
Ram : 6 Gb
GPU : Nvidia GT 320 –> I didn’t unable the driver since the driver don’t support it, even the legacy one… i’m hopping that the solution is not to change it because i don’t have another one :/

And on Kodi i’ve all of that, i tried every output, no sound with HDMI, but sound with intel mid with the green speaker input

Update, i found on some thread that the PS4 Controller can cause issues with audio on HDMI and sure enough, after unplug-in it and reboot, i’ve got audio in Kodi now, on the input “HDA Nvidia, MED 20436 on HDMI #1”

BUT : I can’t find this entry on batocera :

Any idea ?

Yes I remember that I created this thread on the matter:

But I didn’t find any solution to the issue: I didn’t find any way to force hdmi to be the first recognized device by asla at startup with batocera.

I ended up stopping using PS4 controller and used a old PS2 controller with usb adapter instead…sad but I didn’t have any other solution…

It seems that the good chanel is HDMI1. unfortunately it doesn’t appear in Batocera options.

Did you try to unmute “Line” chanel in Alsamixer [HDA INTEL Mid] sound card ?

Hi, i guess we can say that i solded the issues, found someone (sorry can’t find the link to the original author solution anymore..)

I created this file : .asound.rc
and set my nvidia gpu port and “hdmi 7 entry”

It’s seems to work, sometime i’ve “audio popping” however but not all the time

Alucard You have to make a config like i posted (i will try a smaller config file, maybe it will avoid having popping audio, still have to try) but before be sure to be on “CUSTOM” audio settings, first, otherwise your asound.rc will be reseted, had the same trouble and been trap by that.

Now i can play with my ps4 controller bluetooth/wired, even if i think my xbox one controller is better to avoid issues

Alucard Hope it will work for you, for now I can confirm that there is a shorter config file to make it work
