X-Arcade Tankstick on Batocera

Hello,

Sorry if this is a basic question but I am trying to get my Tankstick working on Batocera. The Batocera website has a little info on it and states:

"“The X-Arcade Tankstick is supported on Batocera when you enable controllers.xarcade.enabled=1 in the file /userdata/system/batocera.conf. It is done through the arcade2jstick module, which means that each of the two sticks is seen as an independent joystick by EmulationStation and the emulators. The trackball is recognized as a USB mouse under Batocera and emulators that support mouse.”

I managed to open the command script via ssh and login with username "“root”“ and password ”“linux”“ but when I input ”/userdata/system/batocera.conf" it says permission is denied.

Any help would be very very much appreciated. Thank you!!!

except I can edit the file, stick still does not work

Having same issue with a Mac Air laptop

I’ve performed the config file updates to identify the XArcade controller

Updating what I’ve done… downloaded the Java tank stick tester and it functions..
I’ve tried multiple changes to the configs under the hood. I now have some of the joy stick functions works to scroll through list etc…

I have no clue what the other buttons do in this mode (Mode 1) so here is a list of what I’d like to know…

What Adds a Credit
What Starts a Game

Do I have to have some other keyboard to exit (ESC key) type of thing?

Maybe that’s way off but I have found this Batocera thing to be flaky….

Why can’t we just edit the intput tags in the xml type of file for the controller?

Not sure what the kbd files are that you have.to touch under xarcadejstick etc….

I’m at a loss here and I’m trying to build an arcade cabinet.

Right now I’m using a Mac Air (really small screen) but plan to move all this to a PC setup.

Any help would be greatly appreciated…. or if there is some way to easily scrap Batocera and go to LaunchBox then maybe I can do that? I have some linux experience but haven’t been able to get this Linux OS to recognize WiFi is enabled even though I have the WiFi SID and Password setup correctly so why can’t it see the internet?

I was thinking maybe a network update would patch something?

i just need a bit of advice and getting very frustrated. Is there someone who has the x-arcade 2player tank stick working with batocera … could you simply throw the config files my way?

I’m actually beyond frustrated but have read where I am not alone.

I guess also I might not have this post in the right group but new to this also.

Just adding more data points. Trying to configure keyboard under batocera config. Pressing an already configure button doesn’t skip that setting. It just say already taken.
