Hi nebura45,

Wednesday I installed (upgraded to) V30 of Batocera.
By the way, I’ve re-installed Widivine and since, all is solved.
I don’t have Netflix but Prime Video is working, and also other streamed channels (french and belgian channels) are working now.
I recommand you to upgrade Batocera if you don’t already done.
Also, if it’s insufficient, re-install Widivine.
However, the connection delay is very long: +/- 1 minute to open the stream.
It’s unusual and I’m still investigate to try finding the bottelneck.

Happy to see that is working for you. On my case, I have a raspberry pi 4 and now the architecure is 64bit. There’s no support for Widevine CMD for ARM64. So… it will never work, an option is to have another sd with libreelec or any other kodi solution that still use 32bit architecture. I’m not sure if there’s any chance to have kodi 32bit version running on batocera 30.

Same problem for me, i stay on batocera 29 because upgrade cause some others problems for some people.

I try lot of things but it doens’t work.

create your own scripts, use: ldd libwidevine

to see what’s left to add to the batocera,

jmanoel7 thanks for this. Does your script still work? From what I can see its a case of copying over the files, untar and running install.sh but as the Batocera version has ticked over is it still in date?

You comment “use ldd libwidevine to see what’s left to add to the batocera” sounds great. Any pointers to how to do that? I understand there is now a libwidevine package for Arch64 available in Raspberry Pi OS but I have no idea how to add it to batocera. Thanks

Update: seems I was wrong - there’s no arch64 widevine. Some users have found a way to use 32-bit widevine on a 64-bit system

According to this blog widevine now works on Arch64 and the package libwidevinecdm0 is in Raspberry Pi OS since March 2021. If correct, it just needs adding to Batocera for Netflix, Disney+ etc to work.

Edit: seems I was wrong, there’s no widevine for arch64. I’m attempting a downgrade to 32-bit Batocera (v32 I believe) with

batocera-upgrade https://mirrors.o2switch.fr/batocera/rpi4/stable/last/

and will see if widevine works

Hello everybody! Thanks to all the batocera developers!

I have batocera 32 on a raspi4, and I love gaming, but being unable to use Netflix, HBO, Amazon, Spotify, etc is a deal breaker for me.

Is there any workaround for this widevine situation? If not, what would be the best recommendation? Going back to batocera 29 o choosing another OS?

gonzacarv Hi, When I researched this I found that there was no 64-bit arm version of widevine the anti piracy software written by Google that is used by Netflix Disney+ and other streamers. I tried going back to a fresh install of Batocera 29 (the last 32-but version) but found the Kodi add-ons for Netflix and Disney+ didn’t work with that either

I tried some other gaming distributions but all of them had the same problems.

The only one that I have found that works is Retropie. I am using the latest version, Retropie 4.7.1. I found Retropie, Kodi and the add-ons all work really well.

The only thing I had to do to get the Netflix background service for the Netflix add on to work was install the pycryptodomex package with

sudo apt-get install python-pycryptodomex

(Details here if interested. I just installed that one package. If you use pip install, it installs a ton of other stuff to get pip working which I didn’t need).

Now everything works like a dream.

It’s a shame as Batocera 32 is beautiful and worked really well until I realised you can’t watch Netflix.

Apparently Google are unlikely to ever release a 64-bit version of widevine for arm stick to 32-bit versions. It won’t make a noticeable difference for Retropie or Kodi.

Since the release of the official 64 bits Raspberry Pi OS i was wondering if this widevine and the possibility of using streaming services will be aviable in batocera (kodi).

gonzacarv When widevine becomes 64-bit.
If you need it, stick with the older versions of Batocera, or better yet if you primarily use your box as a streaming box then use an operating system designed for it instead of Batocera.

So to update, apparently now user space in ChromeOS is 64-bit, Google has released a 64-bit Widevine. This means all the streaming services should now run in Batocera. I’ll try it as soon as I get time.

RetroPie is good but development is slow. I would quite like to switch to Batocera so this could be a great development
