Old 2006 imac?

But, at the moment I select the efi boot icon, the mac freeze and after a couple of minutes, reboot and enter in osx

Any clue?

jmvb , @leinad20 - either of you get the pleasure of making your old macs do new tricks? which version of Batocera works?

I have a mid-2007 white MacBook & find Ventoy super useful in getting around the 32-bit EFI issue. [how to get around the first black screen it hangs on]

I spent 2 days getting RetroPie & Emulation Station working [in Elementary OS 6.1 (based on Ubuntu 20.04 LTS)] so this validates an older version of Batocera should work.

In v35, I now get the Batocera splash screen (graphic & intro sound) [progress!] and then it goes to back to a black screen.

EDIT: I tried editing batocera-boot.conf to point to the UUID of my SHARE partition explicitly, but this didn’t work. (btw, my Batocera is on my internal SSD to eliminate any USB hurdles & antics!)

We’ll make this happen! 🕹️

Same here! I also tryed it on my IMAC 2006. I also tryed different USB Pendrives but always the same result. It freezes and after a couple of minuts it restarts into so Main OS. Any tips are apeceated.

Considering the release date of the video batocera 5.23 or 5.24 etc. I think you are using an older version. Please try the older version.

mikakunin oh my bad - I didn’t know “5.24” was the versioning scheme back in 2019.

sorry for all the individual posts - just wanted to post a VICTORY - Batocera 5.24 boots on an ancient 2007 entry-level Macbook - rejoice! 🎉

I need to test it out further but I don’t anticipate any issues. the funky rock [chiptune] background music y’all used in 2019 is quite the change from today’s mellow vibes of v35 😎

Ventoy now boots off .img files so it’ll be easy to test which build it breaks on older hardware.

EDIT: tried booting into other builds and v26 (20200527) works on a white mid-2007 MacBook - v27 breaks with an X server error:

Fatal server error:
