Sebbfire I’ve found a potential fix for the booting problems which is to first boot windows then restart windows and set it to automaticly boot batocera. For some reason that has worked every time but when i boot batocera direcly, i’m stuck on the booting screen.
That implicates, that there is an issue with booting from usb on your computer (when you start your computer the first time from switchted off state). It seems, that usb thumb drives are not initialized correctly, when you power on your pc from switched off state. Honestly i don’t know how this can be fixed, besides to use another PC, where this issue does not happen. (But maybe there are some bios settings, that could help? Like raising boot time or disabling fast boot or something like that (if your bios has such an option)).
Sebbfire do i just remove the hashtag before the line?
yes, remove the “#” in front of the line and save the file (but use notepad++ for editing the batocera-boot.conf file and not wordpad or something like that, because otherwise it won’t work correctly)
Sebbfire If i don’t have it enabled, does that mean the games are just running from the processor and aren’t using the graphics card?
If you don’t enable the nvidia-drivers, then standard mesa-drivers will be used and this can lead to that not the full potential of the graphics power of your GPU will be used. So it could be that you do not have full speed (60fps) in upscaled (2x or 3x native resolution for example) Gamecube games for example.
Sebbfire About the screen flickering, It’s probably some compatibility issue as i don’t have this problem when running windows. Is there any way to force batocera into 30 hz as i don’t have the issues on kodi when running on 30hz?
I don’t know how to force batocera into 30Hz (i even don’t know if this would be possible at all). But i would not use 30Hz, because most games are running at 50 or 60FPS and i guess they would look ugly in 30Hz. I would rather use another TV/Monitor, if i were you. From what i heard in the last few weeks from several different users is, that there are issues with batocera in combination with 4k TVs. Not all 4k TVs work fine with batocera. You could try an older version like 5.26 or 5.27.2 to see, if your 4k TV runs fine with it. Or you could come to the discord and ask there for support for your issue flickering problem with your 4k TV. But you will have to be patient, because such individual issues are not very high in terms of priority for the devs. I followed a discussion in #developers channel about 4k TVs, that some of those TVs are lying about their supported Video Mode (supported resolutions, Hz etc.) and that this seems do be an issue with EDID. And EDID seems to be a very complex issue (if you google it, you will see).
