HDMI output with AMD laptop with discrete gpu

I recently got batocera up and running. However, the hdmi output on my laptop is not a video output option in the menu. My laptop is a Dell G5 with AMD ryzen 4800H cpu and AMD RX 5600M gpu. I recently had to disable the integrate graphics option to get a Virtual Reality headset with link cable to work so I suspect this a similar issue. The hdmi output on this lap top works fine in windows. I am able to select monitor outputs fine when booting from a different desktop with an nvidia gpu but I want to be able to use my laptop with hdmi output. Any suggestions?

I’m probably having the same problem with my MSI GS65 with RTX 2060 and Batocera 29. I can’t get the Information screen to mention NVIDIA instead of Mesa, so that could be it. I’ve read to try running batocera-hybrid-nvidia but that black screens Batocera for good unless I delete the nvidia conf file it creates. I’ve also found someone mention trying to switch to HDMI output from within Kodi, but HDMI doesn’t appear there for me, either.
