Getting Pads running?

Hi all,

I’m using Batocera 5.27 with Legacy Nvidia driver. Apologies if this has already been covered, I’ve been searching like crazy have only run into dead ends.

None of my controllers will work in emulators, all of them work in the system menus. This includes Raphnet 4Snes USB adapter. Playstation to USB adapter, Switch controller a few others.

My searches tend to lead to people suggesting to go into the in game emulator menu but for the life of me I can’t get an in game menu to appear. The only thing I can see the keyboard will bring up is F2 for a clock and ALT+F4 to quit, it used to quit the emulator with Esc but that doesn’t seem to be happening any more. I’ve tried using the assigned hotkey on every controller and the keyboard to bring up the menu as per the wiki but nothing. I’ve tried with all controllers connected (they appear top left as detected) and also each one individually.

Can someone tell me what stupid thing I’m missing before I lose my mind :p

Did you do the button mapping in ES (Controller Settings, Configure A Controller)?
Otherwise when you are in the System Selection Screen, you can press F1 on a keyboard and then navigate to Applications. There you have the possibility to configure certain emulators. But it may be, that if you change some settings within those emulator-config GUIs, that not all settings are being saved permanently.

Yeah I configured the pads in ES. I didnt know about F1/Apps, thanks for that :) Unfortunately it didn’t help, still no response from controllers within emulators.

Hmm, then i guess the adapter and/or pads (in combination) are not supported unfortunately :(
I recommend using PS3 and PS4 controllers. Along with Xbox (360 and One S) and 8bitdo bluetooth controllers, they are supported best by Batocera.

Even though they are all seen and usable in ES and in the config apps?

Overall it’s not important. Everything works under windows, I’ll use that. Cheers for your help.

it’s strange, and if they work in ES, then i guess they could/should also work in emulators.
maybe one of the devs in the discord channel can help you?
