Hi, i’m trying to run Batocera (multiple versions tryed, samne problem) on my old computer.

CPU: Athlon 64 ×2 3600+

Mother: MSI K9VGM-V

RAM: 2GB DDR2

After boot (no splash screen shown), black screen appears.

I switched to another tty (tty3) and I saw the error “xinit giving up”.

I tryed to enable nvidia-driver, and disable auto-resizing.

I tryed both 64 and 32 bits.

nothing worked.

What is your GPU?

You could also try an older version of batocera (5.19 or 5.21 for example)

what output do you have? VGA. HDMI, anything else?

Daraton VGA, is the only output I have.

I think its an AMD driver problem.

i just googled your Motherboard and found out, that it has nvidia ion graphics onboard?

i guess the drivers integrated in batocera do not support this chipset. maybe the nvidia-legacy version does work for you

joinski I didn’t know that the graphics are integrated in the motherboard, and not in the CPU AMD.

I think that purchasing an external graphic-card shoud work. Any suggestion?

I already tryed nvidia-legacy and didn’t work.

any more modern (not older than 8 years old) graphics card should do.

maybe something like a nvidia gt 710 or 1030 for example.

joinski I tryed Nvidia 710 and didn’t work.

I also discover that i need openchrome drivers to use xorg in mi mother. Is there a way to add this package to batocera?

No, you can not install drivers in batocera on your own.

Did you try the nvidia-legacy version?
