Enabling Nvidia GPU not working

Hello!

I was directed here after viewing a tutorial video on how to enable my Nvidia GPU. I’m running a 1660 Super with an i7, 4790k and 16 GB of DDR 3 RAM.

I removed the “#” per the video instructions. When I try to boot, it will very slowly load the splash screen and crash. My configuration was set to the following:

# enable the nvidia driver (remove the # to enable it)

# nvidia-prime enables the nvidia gpu over the intel gpu in case you’ve an nvidia hybrid gpu

nvidia-driver=true

#nvidia-prime=true

Any help is appreciated, and thank you all for what you’ve accomplished with this!

I am having this exact issue. I’ve tried both options, and both together, and nothing seems to be turning the card on.

I also asked in the discord and what I discovered is that it did eventually boot but it takes 3-5 minutes which is in itself a different issue I’d eventually want to investigate.

I have a suggestion. I’m a brand new batocera user and I started having this issue too. I think I’ve mostly fixed it. In your batocera.conf file where you enabled the nvidia driver, do you have any shares enabled? I was trying to enable my usb HD where I keep my roms. Try disabling that line. I think what might be happening is it might be treating locally attached “shares” the same as network shares, then it’s taking forever to poll the network. Just as a test, comment out that share line and see if it makes a difference. Mine came back to me after a 10 second or so black screen.

I’m having a trouble with my nvidia driver not working. I’ll start a new thread.

Also make sure you aren’t using Notepad to edit that file, as that can corrupt Unix text documents.
