quick question about dosbox

Does batocera uses the SVN build? Because I can see 2 configurations:

/recalbox/share/system/.dosbox/dosbox-SVN.conf
and
/recalbox/share/system/configs/dosbox/dosbox.conf

Why this?

Also do you know if it's possible to create a mapper configuration per game on batocera? Each game uses a different keyboard configuration and I want to use the joystick to play the games.

the double file is an error when we changed of dosbox version as far as i remember.
no mapper configuration. i'm even not sure that the pad works with dosbox while my dos games are played with keyboard.
it's probably possible to tweak the .conf file to make batocera better.

nadenislamarre yes its possible play with joystick, some games even works without using mapper, like prince of persia. I'm running right now some windows games thru windows 3.11 in dosbox, works very well.

A mapper for each game will be nice i'll try to research

nadenislamarre I'm using the regular version of batocera (r3989 as you said) and it's working very well. I'm currently playing Bad Mojo on Windows 3.11. The latest version could be better but idk, I should test with some games to see the difference. ..

ugh.. I tried and failed to change the dosbox version, but I couldn't get buildroot to download from google drive the archive. I guess it takes a bit of learning, and reading more about BR docs if such thing would be even possible. (looking to replace current dosbox version with dosbox ECE that comes with mt-32 emulation/fluidsynth support and some game controller support as well.)

we're currently using :
DOSBOX_VERSION = r3989
DOSBOX_SITE = svn://svn.code.sf.net/p/dosbox/code-0/dosbox/trunk

the last revision seems to be 4044.

dosbox ece is for windows only.
i don't know what are the enchancements about.
i may try to update dosbox to 4044 first.

nope.. ece has source code available (there is linux version as well) so NOT only for windows 🙂
