Hi, I have recently installed Batocera and am loving it so far but I am having a peculiar issue with the PS2 emulator (PCSX2) that I have been trying to troubleshoot and have been unable to sort out. So I broke down and made an account here just to ask for help with this…
Basically I have a PC with 2 hard drives, one drive has batocera and all games installed on it, the other has windows on it. On batocera, certain PS2 games that i’ve tested (there may be more, these are just what i’ve tested), namely Max Payne 1 and Vice City Stories, freeze or give me a black screen after the opening cinematics. What is bizarre is that if I boot my PC into windows and use PCSX2 there, and launch the exact same games with the exact same hardware, they work perfectly fine. In both cases I am using the same ps2 bios as well (US 2006). Why would there be a discrepancy in performance / stability between these two modes of play if I am using the same games, bios, and hardware? The only thing I can think of is these are running different versions of PCSX2? For windows I am using the latest stable release (1.6 I believe) and for Batocera I am using whatever comes installed.
I should mention, my pc is using an intel 9400f and a NVIDIA 1070ti, with 16gb of ram; Also for batocera I am using the dev build, most up to date version. Also for both batocera and windows I am using the default settings in pcsx2.
Anyway, does anyone have an ideas why there would be such a discrepancy?
