Hi, I seem to have a similar problem that other people seem to have with the changes to video output handling in batocera 5.9. My issues are compounded by multiple things:
- the laptop I run batocera on has one of those Intel GPUs that default to the LCD which this laptop no longer has. 5.8's previous screen detection worked flawlessly for me because it would detect whether I had VGA or HDMI connected and would adjust to suit. With 5.9 however it seems to go to the default and ignores any connected screens.
- Somehow my root password has changed with the 5.9 update and "recalboxroot" no longer works so I have no way of logging into the machine to see if i can edit the /boot/config.txt file to get my video to output correctly.
Samba seems to be working fine and I can browse files through the network without a problems but SSH/SCP is no longer accessible to me. A way to force monitor detection and/or clone video output across monitors would be a great help currently.
I have no way to choose video outputs from the system menu since I cannot see the screen which i'm guessing is the crux of a lot of people's problem.
Also if this cannot be solved is there a way to perform a rollback/downgrade to 5.8 because I would like to avoid having to redo the whole process (reinstall/reconfigure/copy roms back/scrape/etc.)
UPDATE: tried pressing the laptop keys for swapping video output on a lark and monitor (VGA) turned on but only getting black output.
UPDATE 2: found the new root password (tryin to ignore that moronic feeling). Unfortunately this doesnt seem to help much since /boot/config.txt no longer exists so I have no idea where to start fiddling with system settings.
UPDATE 3: In case anyone was hoping to use the web based config to help solve your problems - don't bother. I't been removed since 5.7
