No sound in headphone jack of laptop Asus Rog using Batocera 31

Hi all,

As title, I got no sound in headphone jack, only have sound from speakers of laptops while using Batocera 31 (Advance linux sound architecture driver version k5.10.33).

When I try Batocera Plus (Advance linux sound architecture driver version k5.2.16), the headphone sound is ok. Is there a way that I can use older sound driver for Batocera 31? Or anyone know how to fix it?

P/s : I tried Batocera 31 in a Vaio laptop, the sound is fine in headphone jack and speakers

Try selecting your audio output device in the system settings.

Atari Thanks for your reply, I tried all, but it didn’t work, even I updated to Batocera 32beta and set sound output, still nothing change.

ductinh84 What do you mean by “didn’t work”? Was the an option in the menu for your intended audio device? You need to exit the menu to have the sound settings apply in v32. v32 also changes its options based on which combination of audio output/audio profile you have used.

v31 requires you to reboot the system entirely.

Atari Thanks for your informations, Atari. I mean I have tried all the sound output options in v31 & v32, but it still no sound in the headphone jack of my Asus ROG. I rebooted a lot of times when changing the sound output settings. I have tried all the sound settings in Kodi too, but still have the same issue.

Right, you’ve tested it very thoroughly then. Was there an option that mentioned “analog audio” or something of the like? I’m just trying to deduce whether Batocera has detected the audio device at all, if it’s just a bug with Pipewire, or just a plain misconfiguration.
Could you run aplay -l and attach the output here? For example:

  card 0: PCH [HDA Intel PCH], device 0: ALC255 Analog [ALC255 Analog]
    Subdevices: 1/1
    Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
  card 0: PCH [HDA Intel PCH], device 3: HDMI 0 [HDMI 0]

My audio output option are : ALC295ANALOG PCH, HDMI 0 PCH,…,HDMI 4 PCH. I’m sorry, I just a newbie in Linux. I have run aplay -l, It shows the list of device as your example, but I don’t know how to attach new line and what should I put for headphone jack? Could you please guide me?

That command just shows you what audio devices have been detected. You cannot add or remove any from there, it’s just a status report.

Your headphone jack is most likely the first “ALC295ANALOG PCH” option. Try that and cycle through all of the different AUDIO PROFILE options for it, one of them is bound to work. Otherwise, it could be that your laptop is not properly supported by the Linux kernel yet (in which case, you can only wait for future updates).
