MAME configuration files

Hi everyone,
I am using latest Batocera 31 on my Pi 400 and I have a setup with various Mame 0.139 roms.
Within the games I need to override some controller settings which I can do easily via Tab key.
My question is: where does Batocera store the rom specific configuration files with the overriden controller settings? I might be blindfolded but simply cannot find them…

v31 handles this internally (not really user editable, but you can use overlays if you know where they go in a typical Linux OS). v32 and above should put them in /userdata/system/configs/mame.
